The Life and work of Leonardo da Vinci is more than fascinating even after centuries have past, and what he has left us with is much more than legends and sketches, his studies and the ideas discovered are so impressive they are still applicable to our lives today! With over 10 years of intense studying into the mind and art of genius, the creation of the Da Vinci Cut emerged!
As chance would have it, one day Bobak Nasrollahi Moghadam leafed through Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings for Luca Pacioli’s De divina proportione. The drawings of solid shapes similar to a diamond shape, designed with the use of the goldenratio formula. Along with drawings of Leonardo da Vinci’s it, sparked the entrepreneur’s idea to apply the same mathematical formula to diamond-cutting. Cutting the rough stone based on Leonardo’s polygons, the diamond takes on the most fantastic shape. The cut both historical in design and mathematically perfect, gives the maximum emphasis to the characteristics of the stone with 57 facets. The Da Vinci Cut foundation is of a pentagonal table, overlaid with a kaleidoscopic effect of three ‘stars’ visible to the naked eye. A visual beauty unobtainable with any other classic cut, as most rely on a microscope len to view the light patterns (as, for example in the Hearts and Arrows diamonds).
The Da Vinci Cut may well be defined the cut of the 3rd millennium! It is enough to compare Da Vinci Cut diamonds with stones of like characteristics cut by traditional methods to note how the Leonardo Da Vinci Cut diamond is brighter and more luminous – to the point that on the scale normally used for grading the cut, it surpasses the highest rating of ‘ideal’!
Each facet expresses the maximum brilliance making the Da Vinci Cut a cut of incredible beauty. Different from classic cuts, this cut produces a pentagonal table so that three layers of ‘stars’ are visible to the naked eye.
